On July 22, 2024, the highest recorded temperature was reported, highlighting the serious implications for both the environment and the safety of outdoor workers. It is alarming that farmworkers, roofers, construction workers, landscapers, and others are at a heightened risk due to the extreme heat.

One major concern is the lack of safety measures for workers, which leaves many exposed to the scorching sun without access to shade or cold water.

Recognizing the urgent need for action, the Farmworker Association of Florida has taken proactive steps to educate workers about the risks of heat stress and heat strokes. Workers must be able to identify the symptoms and take necessary precautions to ensure their own safety and that of their colleagues.
